Women urged to consider interim management careers

A new campaign to attract more females into the interim management industry has been unveiled by business network Interim Women.

The group said it hopes to double its membership over the next 12 months by hosting a programme of events around the country.

Speaking on International Women's Day (March 8th), Interim Women chair Rachel Youngman described the sector as "a real career alternative" for senior female managers with the necessary skills and experience.

"It is a great career leveller for men and women - they are paid the same for the job and operate at the highest levels in a business," she added.

Research carried out by Interim Women identified the top three benefits of interim roles as an improved work-life balance, a chance to take on more stimulating projects and the fact that interim managers can express their opinions confidently in business.

In December 2010, figures from the Interim Management Association revealed that female executives accounted for 39 per cent of completed interim assignments in the third quarter of the year.
