SMBs urged to consider interim executives

5 August 2009

Small and medium-sized businesses can gain particular benefits from employing executives in interim management positions.

That is according to the experienced interim executive Phillip Jarvis, who has suggested that businesses operating in the UK that are looking to globalise their operations should consider recruiting transitional executives.

Identifying that there is currently a "flood" of experienced executives in the market as a result of the recession, the chief executive of the technology company Sitelite urged potential candidates to differentiate themselves from their rivals.

Mr Jarvis told "We really need to clarify what we mean by interim and how there are different skill sets to address a client's particular need. If you just slam down the term interim, it's too generic."

The value that interim executives can bring to organisations during periods of strategic realignment and expansion was also highlighted by the UK's leading search firm Odgers Berndtson last month.
