NHS 'could use interim managers'
Interim management teams could be a highly valuable asset to public sector organisations such as the National Health Service, an expert has stated.
According to NHS Interim Management and Support, organisations are increasingly calling on the services of turnaround directors for a number of reasons.
For example, it said some bodies are struggling to deal with capacity issues, while others have had problems finding the right person to fill a senior vacancy.
Antony Sumara, chief executive of the organisation, added that some are also taking on interim managers because they want to drive through further internal improvements.
"They are leaders and experts with strong track records who can demonstrate the differences they have made in their own organisation," he commented.
This backs up the recent findings of an Interim Management Association study, which showed that demand for transition teams in the healthcare sector has gone up in the last year.
