Interim assignments 'could help career transition'
Public sector managers looking to move into the private sector may consider interim management roles, an expert has claimed.
Commenting on the prospect of major upheaval following the government's spending review yesterday (October 20th), Tom Hadley of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) suggested many public workers will seek to make the transition, Recruiter reports.
He told the publication: "Temporary assignments and interim management roles could provide a way into the private sector, which will be an avenue a lot of people will have to look at."
Mr Hadley, director of policy and professional services at the REC, made his comments after chancellor George Osborne announced that government departments will see their budgets cut by an average of 19 per cent over the next four years.
The industry expert said recruiters will have a key role to play in providing support and guidance for public sector workers facing redundancy or targeting a new role in the commercial industries.
