Increased confidence in services sector

27 August 2013

Business activity in the services sector has increased significantly leading to an increase in confidence, according to new research.

The Confederation of British Industry has revealed trade in both the consumer services and business and professional services industry grew at the fastest rate since 2007 in the last quarter.

In light of this, companies in both areas are confident about a further improvement in the next three-month period.

Indeed, optimism in the business and professional services sector has now reached a 15-year high.

Paul Smith, a consultant at Odgers Interim, welcomed the news.

"The recruitment industry tends to be a barometer for industry as a whole. We at Odgers Interim have certainly noticed an increase in the demand for personnel over the last three months.

"More projects are being signed off by companies, more investment in growth is happening and the general confidence levels are a lot higher.

"Many interim managers have commented on the increased activity especially within the professional services sector. Our outlook is optimistic for the remainder of the year," he stated.
