Firms advised to hire interim management specialists

7 July 2009

Corporations with short-term problems will benefit from recruiting interim executives, according to two management specialists.

Don Jacobson and Shelley Safian have claimed that companies hiring transitional directors in the current economic environment can gain advantages on their rivals as this type of board member can "hit the ground running".

Compiling an article for DC Velocity, the president and vice president of marketing at Optimum Supply Chain Recruiters explained that interim management specialists can provide companies with "knowledge, skills, work ethic and productivity".

They wrote: "Interim management talent can help keep the company running at peak performance levels until the recovery takes hold.

"With them, you know exactly what you're getting."

Corporations were also informed of further benefits offered by turnaround directors last month by the consultant Barry Willmore, who told the Bangkok Post that interims can reduce the risks involved in companies expanding their operations.
