FDs await economic recovery
Close to half of financial directors believe that the UK economy will recover in 2010, according to a new survey.
The supplier of business management systems COA Solutions has canvassed the views of 100 senior commercial executives and discovered that 41 per cent believe the financial crisis will ease in 2010, while 27 per cent suggested that it would experience an upturn in 2011.
This belief could encourage companies to accelerate critical business improvements by implementing interim executives - a group described by Clarendon Group last week as a "cost-effective solution".
However, Jon Moutlon, managing partner of Alchemy Partners, told financial directors at a briefing last month that this recovery should not be taken for granted.
He said: "People … shouldn't relax too early as trading conditions remain very unstable. In fact, the situation is the most volatile it has ever been in my working career."
Earlier this year, research conducted by Financial Director magazine disclosed that one-in-three financial directors working within the UK are considering taking up an interim management position.
