Companies 'are becoming more comfortable with outsourcing'

19 April 2012

Businesses in the UK are becoming increasingly keen to explore the cost-effectiveness benefits offered by outsourcing.

Lee Ayling, partner at KPMG, told the FT Connected Business podcast that legal firms are seeing increased demand from companies that wish to renegotiate outsourcing arrangements or procure additional services.

According to the KPMG expert, these arrangements are also increasing in scope as firms become more open to the idea of outsourcing and the pursuit of savings through this model.

"As organisations become more comfortable with services delivered by an outsourced provider, sometimes those services aren't delivered in the UK or even in Europe," he explained.

Earlier this month, Martyn Hart, chairman at the National Outsourcing Association, said outsourcing professional development functions can be a good way of using external expertise to bolster business performance.

By adopting this model, companies can foster innovation and improve cost-effectiveness, while also encouraging greater loyalty among staff by showing a willingness to invest in them.
