Businesses 'need to improve agility in changing climate'

16 May 2012

UK companies need to do more to improve the agility of their operations and leadership due to the widespread changes taking place in the business world.

Dr Kate Tojeiro, executive coach and managing director of executive coaching service Xfusion, said business models are rapidly evolving, pointing to the example of Apple's iTunes as a game-changing platform that has recently come to prominence.

As such, pressure is increasing on companies to be able to react rapidly to changes of this kind and be among the first to enter emerging markets.

"I think that perhaps [for] organisations - whatever group or organisation we're talking about - it is about being agile enough to identify where you have experts and people that are specialist within their field," said Dr Tojeiro.

Earlier this week, the Chartered Management Institute said employing highly capable business leaders is essential to cope with a business environment that is changing more rapidly and frequently than ever before.
