Businesses 'can use flexible working to engage staff'

19 June 2012

Managers seeking to maximise the success of their employee engagement efforts have been reminded of the potential business benefits of offering flexible working options.

Steve Purdy, managing director at workspace provider Regus UK, said that giving staff more choice over how they work can directly lead to improved productivity and revenues.

He cited results from a recent Regus survey showing that 73 per cent of UK companies are now offering more flexibility than they used to in terms of working hours and location.

It also showed that 68 per cent of firms reporting enhanced productivity as a result of this, while 63 per cent have attributed recent improvements in financial performance directly to this change.

Mr Purdy said: "The more flexibility you give to employees and the more ability you give them to work with what fits their own personal circumstances ... the more it leads to more motivated and energised employees."
