ODGERS INTERIM EVENTS 2014
This year has been a busy one for our events team who arranged and delivered 10 very successful receptions, seminars and dinners across the UK. Here we take a quick look at the results of all of their hard work.
In February we hosted our Annual Charities’ Reception in Cannon Street. Mr Dan Corry, Chief Executive of New Philanthropy Capital, spoke about the importance of measuring the impact of charity work and urged the sector to prioritise it. He told our audience of senior charity leaders that “Achieving an impact should be at the heart of all charities” and, as Rebecca O’Connor promised, it is our aim at Odgers Interim to support the sector in this.
March saw us hosting two events: the Odgers Private Equity Reception and the Odgers Transportation Dinner. This, our first Transportation Dinner, was hosted by Chris Jones and Berwick Partners’ Korinna Sjoholm and brought together senior executives from across the industry, including Highways, Rail and Aviation.
In April we hosted the Odgers Interim & Berwick Partners Public Services Reception in Manchester. The evening’s key speaker was Paul Chapman, Partner at Westbourne Communications and then- Interim Communications Director at HS2 Ltd. Paul spoke to the audience of Public Service executives and industry leaders about engaging the public interest and retaining a clear narrative when working on large-scale projects in order to avoid public disaffection.
The Odgers Public Sector Reception South took place in London in September with the founder and director of Kids Company Camila Batmanghelidjh discussing children’s services. Camila spoke of the failures that have recently been uncovered within the system and of her campaign ‘See the Child. Change the System’ which aims to improve the processes put in place to properly protect vulnerable young adults.
Our Annual Healthcare Dinner was hosted at the Midland Hotel in Manchester at the beginning of October. Our guest speaker was former Secretary of State for Health Alan Milburn whose speech was received by more than 80 leading healthcare executives and professionals from across the UK. Alan gave us an insider’s perspective of the National Health System; where it is today and how it can be made sustainable in the long term.
At the end of October we held the Odgers Interim Project and Programme Management Seminar in the beautiful Carlton Terrace. Stephen Carver, Lecturer in Programme & Project Management, Innovation Process Management at Cranfield University was our guest speaker for the evening. Stephen discussed the importance of Communications and how it can be, quite literally, a matter of life or death for organisations.
In November we had three events: the Odgers Chemicals Dinner, Odgers Venture Capital Reception and, our final event of this year, our 15 year birthday celebration held on the 26th November. Over 150 people joined us for the event at One Great George Street to celebrate our growth since 1999 and the successes we have achieved during that time, including reaching the top position in this year’s IIM Provider Survey.
Each and every event that we run gives us the opportunity to engage and connect with the individuals, companies and industries that we work with above and beyond our core function, helping us to become experts in our field and the Number One Interim Service Provider in the UK.
