Welsh procurement week hailed as success

26 March 2013

The Procurement Week hosted by Bangor University's Institute for Competition and Procurement Studies (ICPS) earlier this month has been hailed as a success by the organisers.

Running from March 18th to 22nd, the week also included the inaugural Welsh National Procurement Awards.

ICPS director Gary Clifford told the Daily Post that the events, which included a Question Time-style debate about the future of public procurement in Wales, proved more popular than last year.
"We have had a fantastic response to this year's events. There were 16 different countries represented and three of the days sold out," he said.

Mr Clifford added that the week is designed to help Welsh organisations in "dealing with suppliers, procuring contracts and dealing with other companies on an international stage".

The awards ceremony, which took place in Conwy on March 22nd, included prizes for sustainable procurement, collaboration, leadership innovation champion and outstanding contribution.
