Voluntary sector 'likely to need interim managers'
Changes in the voluntary sector are likely to fuel demand for interim managers with experience of change management and restructuring, experts believe.
Seb Elsworth, head of policy at the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (Acevo) told the Guardian that many bodies will seek guidance from external consultants.
"Organisations need to change. But they're not yet sure what that change is - and that's where consultants can come in," he explained.
In addition, Craig Dearden-Phillips, founder of a voluntary sector advice company called Stepping Out, said organisations are likely to need help from managers with financial expertise.
"The interim management market in particular will be swollen," he told the newspaper.
Executives with proven fundraising skills are also expected to see increased demand, as many voluntary bodies will need to replace the money lost through government cuts with new income streams.
In November last year, Acevo chief executive Stephen Bubb said new opportunities for voluntary groups to deliver public services could see the sector's total income rise by up to £2 billion.
