Study reveals dissatisfaction with IT outsourcing deals

29 April 2013

Senior IT professionals are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with their outsourcing contracts, a new survey has revealed.

However, the research by advisory firm Alsbridge also found that many IT leaders accept some responsibility for deals not going as planned, with 40 per cent of respondents admitting they left too many details unconfirmed when signing the contracts.

The survey of 250 IT professionals indicated that 26 per cent of senior IT officials across the biggest outsourcing markets in Europe are dissatisfied with at least one of their outsourcing deals.

Managing partner at Alsbridge Rick Simmonds commented: "IT outsourcing can be a great way to cut costs and deliver value, but only if deals are done properly.

"It looks like many - especially those done under extreme cost pressure during the recession - are failing to meet ongoing client needs."

Top reasons for IT leaders wanting to renegotiate contracts included changing technology needs, pressure to cut costs and a desire for new delivery models.
