Outsourcing 'continuing to gain traction worldwide'
The number of global businesses that are investigating the benefits of outsourcing has continued to rise in the past year.
A new report from information services company TPI has revealed that outsourcing penetration among Global 2000 companies grew by three percent in 2010 to encompass almost two-fifths of listed companies.
Of these, 80 were first-time outsourcing customers, indicating growing take-up of this business model despite companies becoming more careful about their business strategies in recent months.
Outsourcing was shown to have experienced the greatest growth in the construction, materials and utilities sectors.
Paul Reynolds, chief research officer at TPI Momentum, said: "This is a good indication that companies across industries are turning to outsourcing for the first time in search of business benefits that insourcing cannot produce."
This comes after a Gartner report last month showed that business process outsourcing rates are likely to maintain their growth rate into 2012.
