Managers can save £34bn by embracing flexible working
Managers can save their companies £34 billion a year by adopting a flexible working culture, a new study has shown.
According to Vodafone, businesses can significantly reduce their overheads by allowing more staff to work away from the office.
The research - which covered 500 decision makers in the UK - showed that the average manager thinks that remote working would enable them to remove 46 desks from their office, which would result in massive savings on electricity, heating and other essential costs.
Despite the obvious benefits, a recent report by O2 suggested that many enterprises are missing out on this opportunity, as a mere 19 per cent of employees said their managers actively encourage them to work from home.
Enterprise director at Vodafone UK Jeroen Hoencamp claimed that many managers are "blinkered" when it comes to flexible working.
"A potential saving of up to £34 billion is staggering and this research reveals businesses are underestimating the savings they can make through reducing the number of desks they have," he remarked.
