Lincolnshire Police Authority to outsource operations

A new outsourcing arrangement has been unveiled by Lincolnshire Police Authority that will provide extensive efficiency and savings benefits for the body.

The authority has selected G4S as its preferred bidder for a new strategic partnership that will see it outsource a number of key functions, including procurement, ICT, HR services and facilities management.

Moreover, operational services including the criminal justice unit, custody and ID, town enquiries and the crime management bureau will also be covered by the partnership in what is described as one of the biggest structural changes the force has ever undertaken.

According to the police authority, this arrangement will help to streamline operations and deliver vital savings, thus making it easier for the police to focus on their core priorities.

A statement read: "The aim has been to create a model that will transform policing and its delivery - allowing the organisation space to begin to bridge the financial gap whilst maintaining, modernising and improving services."

This comes after Supply Management highlighted a report from HM Inspectorate of Constabulary earlier this month, calling on police authorities to manage their supply chains better.
