Key change management skills highlighted
Effective change management is based on key skills such as organisation, networking and trust-building.
This is according to Personnel Today, which examined the qualities needed by interim executives and other management figures in light of a recent study by Xpert HR.
According to the organisation's research, a lack of in-house change management expertise caused problems for six out of ten employers during their most recent change programmes.
In response to this statistic, Personnel Today said line managers must focus on "day-to-day people management" within their companies to achieve the desired results.
A key skill identified by the news provider is managing the uncertainty of others in relation to change.
"Most resistance to change is resistance to uncertainty and managers that force clarity help staff cope with change," it commented.
David Harries, director of the IMA Institute, recently said that interim managers can bring "proven experience to solving a particular problem or delivering a change programme" within private sector organisations.
