Interim recruitment 'offers various advantages'

Companies that appoint interim managers can benefit from a range of different potential advantages, according to a new report.

Analysis from HR Magazine has noted that interim business leaders offer extensive experience of various situations, meaning they can offer expertise that companies would not necessarily be able to afford to pay for on a permanent basis.

They can also introduce a sense of energy and objectivity to a flagging organisation and can be introduced with great speed, often allowing them to be put in place within days.

Jason Atkinson, chairman of the Interim Management Association (IMA), said there can be further strategic advantages if interim staff have previously worked for other companies in the same sector.

"When a company wants to do something new and knows a competitor has done it and done it well, they might come to us to find someone who has worked for that competitor," he noted.

This comes after data from the IMA earlier this month revealed a rise in UK interim recruitment in the third quarter of 2011.
