Interim managers offer 'wide-ranging and numerous' benefits

Interim managers have many benefits and can offer "excellent expertise" at relatively short notice, should a business need specialist assistance quickly.

This is according to founder of thebusinessgp.com Marc Lawn, who explained there are "wide-ranging and numerous" advantages to taking on an interim manager to carry out a specific task or oversee a project.

Demand for such staff - who typically take up short-term contracts at senior level - has risen considerably of late. According to data released earlier this year by the Interim Management Association, the amount of business generated by the UK's top interim managers has jumped 93 per cent in the past five years to £196m, compared with just £102m in 2006.

Firms need to take on an interim executive as quickly as possible if they find one aspect of their operation is in difficulty and Mr Lawn noted their flexibility means a company can start and stop work at short notice, while interims' ability to "hit the ground running" enables them to get results in a short timeframe.
