HR outsourcing efforts 'require comprehensive planning'

16 July 2012

Companies that are seeking to outsource their human resources (HR) outsourcing efforts should ensure they plan the process comprehensively, an expert has advised.

Doug Sawers, managing director of specialist HR outsourcing company, stated that firms carrying out such projects should ensure they have the right software in place and necessary support in terms of payroll, tax and rewards, as well as drawing up a comprehensive business plan.

He said: "I would advise that they get the absolute basics fixed and right, so that people can sleep easy at night and not be concerned over the tax situation."

The expert noted that HR outsourcing can be appealing to small companies that are finding that functions such as pay management are starting to take up too much time.

Initially, many entrepreneurs wish to keep these operations under their personal control, but the benefits of outsourcing become clearer as their businesses expand.

Earlier this month, Everest Group published a report showing that infrastructure outsourcing is also becoming a popular trend for businesses, with companies approaching it with a strategic view in order to prevent costs from mounting.
