HR managers 'must get on board with big data'
Big data has received a considerable amount of attention from the business world in recent years and companies are keen to take advantage of the vast quantities of information that are now accessible.
However, leaders in the HR industry should also be keen to get on board with technology, according to two industry experts.
Writing for HR Magazine last week, Steve O'Neill of cloud computing firm EMC and David Eastwood of KPMG, claimed senior figures in the sector must ensure they are well informed on big data.
Not only will this allow them to access huge amounts of useful information, it will also ensure they do not fall foul of legal regulations surrounding the use of the technology.
They warned HR directors need to "kick off" big data conversations with IT departments, risk management teams and CFOS if they haven't started already.
"It will not take much to go wrong to put your company the wrong side of data regulation, the law, or even the vast array of [social] media," the business experts stated.
