HR 'can increase its contribution with data'
HR professionals could make more effective use of data, an industry expert has claimed.
Writing for HR Magazine, director of the workforce effectiveness centre at the Work Foundation Stephen Bevan said better use of information could help HR improve its business contribution.
He claimed many professionals in the sector have a large amount of data available to them, but lack either the time or know-how to use it effectively.
"The challenge is to find the space to think laterally or to use data to shed new light on a business or performance issues," Mr Bevan added.
He suggested data could be used to improve talent retention by analysing information regarding people who have left the company previously to find insights into how to prevent this from recurring.
This is not the first time calls for better use of data in HR have been made, as last month Steve O'Neill of cloud computing firm EMC and David Eastwood of KPMG told HR Magazine the sector should do more to take advantage of big data.
