HCA to choose interim chief executive

15 September 2010

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) has said it intends to hire an interim chief executive in the wake of Sir Bob Kerslake's departure.

According to reports, the agency's board will be responsible for the interim appointment and it has no current plans to fill the role permanently.

A spokeswoman for the HCA told Regeneration & Renewal that the decision is likely to be made public "in the next few weeks", with the interim position lasting for 12 months.

Mr Kerslake was recently appointed permanent secretary for the Department for Communities and Local Government and is due to begin his new job on November 1st.

The former chief executive of Sheffield City Council has been in charge at the HCA for almost two years.

Chief executive of the British Property Federation Liz Peace suggested the agency will struggle to replace its departing leader, who is set to become one of the country's top civil servants.

"He's a strong, powerful figure who is the consummate politician, who knows how to work the system," she told the news provider.
