Employee monitoring 'is becoming essential'
With more and more workers being granted permission to do their jobs remotely, some managers are starting to feel that their power has been diluted.
According to leaders at technology distributor Intellectsoft UK, employee monitoring is becoming increasingly important.
The organisation stated that senior figures are now having to juggle the rapid growth of the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) concept, the consumerisation of IT and social media penetration - and many are clearly finding it very tough.
It is harder to keep tabs on the exact whereabouts of remote staff and it is sometimes difficult to monitor the productivity of someone who hardly ever ventures into the office.
Director at the firm Sean Weatherburn said: "Employee monitoring while not being the panacea to all your business problems, is becoming an essential component of companies' risk management strategy."
Research and Markets recently revealed that 65 per cent of global businesses have now adopted a BYOD policy, with staff happiness and cost reductions being the two main benefits cited by the majority of companies.
