Deloitte urges business to prepare for extreme conditions

18 January 2013

As snow falls across much of the UK and concerns increase that the weekend could see conditions worsen, Deloitte has urged businesses to prepare for extreme weather.

Rick Cudworth, lead partner for resilience and preparedness, proposed that the lessons learned over the Olympic period could prove useful for firms gearing up for a difficult few days.

Furthermore, he highlighted flexible working as an important procedure to have in place, with many employees likely to fulfil their roles from home if weather conditions make it too difficult for them to reach the office.

"Companies should also review how their severe weather plans will be communicated to staff and test these systems to make sure they still work," he added.

It is important to constantly review how severe weather conditions are likely to be and make plans accordingly, the Deloitte partner concluded.

Chair of REC Healthcare Andrew Horner recently claimed that flexible staffing could be crucial for the NHS.
