Corporate leadership 'key to employee retention'

A new report from Deloitte has revealed that in a fractious jobs market, with employees tending to move from company to company more often than in the past, corporate leadership is crucial to retaining talented staff.

According to Deloitte’s new global talent survey, Talent 2020, 62 per cent of those respondents who plan to stay at their current firm cite strong levels of corporate leadership and trust as being central to their decision.

Support and recognition from supervisors or managers was also highlighted as a key factor by 25 per cent of staff in this position, with 44 per cent citing the potential of bonuses or incentives as their main motivation.

Dimple Agarwal, lead partner for organisation design and talent at Deloitte UK, said: "Strong leadership is one of the most important factors in differentiating between an employee who is committed to their job and one who is searching for the next opportunity."
