Companies 'increasing focus on IT outsourcing'
Businesses are investing more in outsourcing their IT requirements, new research has revealed.
According to data compiled by CRM consultancy Bluewolf, 32 per cent of companies claim they will increase spending on IT outsourcing over the next 12 to 18 months.
As a larger number of businesses turn to the cloud to manage their data, this will likely result in an increase in the number of firms taking up outsourced applications development, hosting and maintenance.
Furthermore, a Gartner report highlighted the significant rise in the popularity of cloud services, with the sector expected to grow by almost 50 per cent in 2012 to $5 billion (£3.17 billion).
The news follows the publication of research from KPMG, highlighting a shift in attitudes to IT outsourcing among UK firms.
Lee Ayling, partner in KPMG's shared services and outsourcing advisory practice, commented: "The survey highlights that buyers are now using multiple service providers where they didn't before - hence service providers have to respond to shifting preferences for how IT is delivered."
