Companies 'adopting tactical view on infrastructure outsourcing'

15 July 2012

Businesses seeking to take maximum advantage of infrastructure outsourcing are seeking to apply a more tactical approach to the function.

This is according to a report from Everest Group, which has revealed that buyers are taking an increasingly strategic view due to the potential high costs associated with this mechanism.

Carefully planned allocation of funds across traditional infrastructure outsourcing, remote infrastructure management outsourcing and cloud-based services has become a key trend, while offshore providers are gaining in popularity.

The analysis noted that cloud technology such as infrastructure-as-a-service solutions are seeing growing take-up due to their flexibility and scalability.

"Infrastructure outsourcing seems to be showing the way not only in cloud adoption, but also in how IT delivery and pricing models are transforming," the report said.

Earlier this month, head of business leadership group What If? Forums Richard Bosworth suggested that the cultivation of strong relationships is the key to a successful outsourcing partnership.
