Cleantech identified as growth industry
The UK's senior executives have backed the clean technology industry to achieve substantial revenue growth over the next decade.
In a survey commissioned by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, 43 per cent of director-level staff members suggested that the cleantech industry would be the UK's fastest growing up to 2020.
The poll, which questioned more than 300 senior executives in eight different industries, also revealed that 15 per cent of respondents identified the media and entertainment sector as the source of a significant boom.
The significant increase in business and revenues for corporations in these sectors could lead to greater demand for interim management specialists, who can embed good practice and fresh thinking into organisations.
Odgers Interim explained that interim executives are often recruited to deliver a specific project or meet targets, as opposed to the commonly held belief that they are hired as temporary cover.
Lord Drayson, minister for science and innovation, suggested that renewables will help the country achieve "sustainable growth".
He said: "Clean tech and renewables will play a huge part in helping the UK economy to grow sustainably. But we need to do more to encourage innovation."
