Change management "essentials" explained

Change management was on the agenda at last month's Like Minds Summit, a social media business conference at Dartmoor's Bovey Castle.

According to management website bnet.co.uk's blogger Yann Gourvennec, who attended the event, executives should consider several "essential" ingredients when looking to implement change in their organisation.

One of the most important aspects of any change management policy is the "human factor", meaning that leaders must respect their employees and take time to deal with any concerns that arise.

Mr Gourvennec, head of internet and digital media at Orange Business Services, also recommended that managers set a timescale for change.

He explained: "Change is best implemented within a three to six-month period. If nothing has happened before then, chances are that nothing ever will."

Another key ingredient is using senior figures to set an example to the rest of the organisation by actively engaging with the change strategy.

The Like Minds Summit followed the organisation's second conference, which took place in Exeter on February 26th.
