Change management 'aligns well with HR'
Deploying change management staff in human resources departments can be an effective way of leveraging their skills, according to an expert.
Catherine Smithson, managing director at consultancy firm Being Human, suggested that a combination of change management and HR responsibilities can be instrumental in producing a "change-capable" organisation.
She told the International Business Times that this is due to the importance of HR functions such as leadership development curriculums and performance management systems in promoting a successful change.
Ms Smithson also noted that HR divisions play a key role in considering employee engagement and culture, key elements in "making the business case for change management and for equipping change managers with an understanding of the organisation".
This comes after a report from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development last month illustrated the growing role of change management in learning and development programmes.
A survey conducted by the body identified this issue as one of the three business activities most likely to receive attention from those in this sector.
