CBI: Recruitment in London on the up

17 December 2012

Businesses across London are now set to increase their recruitment activity over the coming six months, new data from the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has revealed.

According to the organisation's latest CBI/KPMG London Business Survey, 61 per cent of companies in the capital say they will be recruiting as normal during the next half-year.

CBI director for London Sara Parker said: "While firms are still cautious about the economy, 2012 has been an upbeat year for the capital and many firms are feeling buoyed by our Olympic success and are positive about London as a place to invest."

She added that it is increasingly encouraging to see the recruitment freeze that was brought earlier this year now beginning to "thaw".

Earlier this month, chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Peter Cheese claimed one of the most important measures that could facilitate increased employment across the UK will be the greater uptake of flexible working policies by firms.
