Businesses 'should turn to interim managers to deal with uncertainty'

2 July 2009

Businesses unsure of how to deal with the ongoing economic downturn and looking to restructure for the future have been advised to consider the benefits of interim executive recruitment.

Coming as some observers report the emergence of 'green shoots' within the UK economy, many organisations are now looking to the future, whether this be through re-prioritising their spending or restructuring the business models.

Now, experts have advised that interim managers can help businesses achieve the desired turnaround, given that many of them are experienced in dealing with uncertainty.

One specialist was quoted by the Times as explaining that, by hiring someone for the life of a specific project, businesses are able to benefit from greater flexibility, while employers are also not burdened with paying an interim manager's benefits package.

At the same time, the newspaper's column on 'how to deal with uncertainty' advised businesses to introduce changes on a small scale, as well step up their creative and innovative efforts in order to stay one step ahead of the competition.

Meanwhile, Liverpool Football Club has recently announced that it has appointed an equity expert as an interim managing director as its boardroom power struggle continues.
