Interim Management – The Misnomer
It is commonly held that Interim Managers simply ‘fill gaps’. This paper will attempt to dispel that myth.
The body of senior executives operating as professional Interim Managers has grown significantly over the last ten years. The lure of challenging assignments, generally lasting between six and twelve months and often demanding the use of their extensive range of skills and experience, is strong. Many organisations are now using Interims as agents of change, strategically placed alongside permanent staff.
I contend that a much more informative, and useful, phrase to describe Interims’work would be Turnaround, Change and Project Management.
