Innovation and Change: The Case for an Interim Executive

Professor Victor Newman is an established Odgers Interim Manager and an experienced change professional. In a recent book based on his innovation leadership profiling of CEOs and leaders, he observed: “Most leaders drive their businesses like blind drivers gauging the journey by the grinding noises of impacts on other cars and the screams of their passengers.”

It is true that some businesses do have the equivalent of a ‘head-on-collision’ and fail. So how do those in the driving seat learn to navigate more successfully? This paper discusses several issues associated with this topic and looks to challenge existing thinking. It also offers some potential solutions for the future.
