Retail and Consumer Breakfast
On Wednesday 15th July, Odgers Interim hosted a breakfast event specifically for interim executives from the retail and consumer sector. The very first of a series of events focussed on bringing together some of the very best interim talent in the sector, with a deliberate mix of functional and leadership experts, in order to create a very informal opportunity to gain different perspectives across both small and large high street retailers to branded consumer goods spanning multiple categories.
The breakfast was held at our Cannon Street offices overlooking St Paul's and began with an overview of the Odgers Interim business presented by Julie Quick and an introduction to our team. We took a look back at how the changing economic landscape had impacted the industry. Specific focus and some analysis on the retail and consumer sector concluded that, both sectors where experiencing growth and that international markets featured in the strategy and vision of business. A refreshing step change from previous years, where crisis management, restructure and refinancing had taken precedent. This was reflected in the nature, volume and breadth of roles Odgers Interim has successfully placed. Greater focus being around Business transformation, M&A, integration and decisive leadership.
Keen to gain insight from the expertise around the table, Jonathan Flynn delivered an interesting and insightful piece on customer engagement and its role at the heart of all retail and consumer businesses and indeed central to our own way of working. The table was then thrown open and some truly interesting discussion and lively debate ensued and a great opportunity for all to network. Judging by the positive feedback so far, it will most definitely by the first of many.
Many thanks again to all who were able to join us and make the breakfast such a success.
