Odgers Interim & PwC Financial Services Board Dinner
Odgers Interim hosted a round table dinner on Tuesday 13th June. The debate was centred around Artificial Intelligence and its impact on the future of Financial Services.
A mixture of CEO’s, COO’s and Digital experts were among the guests from the insurance, banking, payments and fintech industries.
The evening was hosted and chaired by Paul Smith, partner and head of Odgers Interim FS practice. Rob McCargow and Aldous Birchall, from the PwC AI team, were major contributors to the discussion and helped establish the facts around the exponential growth of AI in financial services.
There was much animated contribution from all of the attendees, most of which cannot be shared in this forum due to Chatham House Rules.
However, it was clear that we can all see the potential of AI on better processes, customer service and predicting the future based on the huge amounts of data we are collecting. There are also some serious concerns though;
- Hacking/Cyber Crime
- Scarcity of technical talent
- Limited understanding of data technology
- Existential threat to humanity
It was an intellectually stimulating and thought provoking evening, over a tasty dinner.
