Managers 'must be passionate communicators'
Companies seeking to improve the effectiveness of their operations must understand the importance of managers gaining the trust of colleagues, an expert has suggested.
Kevin Murray, chairman of public relations firm Bell Pottinger, stated the best managers are the members of staff who are capable of communicating effectively.
The expert's comments were made to mark the launch of his new book, which suggests company leaders have more time to inspire their workforce as a result of the introduction of digital technology.
Mr Murray went on to acknowledge the need for managers to adapt to progression regarding the way operations are carried out, with innovative methods allowing tasks to be completed in a limited timeframe.
Additionally, he suggested it is the strengths and passion of members of staff that enables managers to achieve their goals, so prioritising employees is vital.
"Leadership is all about ... giving trust first to people [as well as] listening to them, respecting them and understanding what their strengths are," Mr Murray explained.
